We’re looking at a partly sunny day with highs near 80°F—quite pleasant, actually. That weather system moving in from California will bring those gusty winds by mid-afternoon. If you’re thinking about firing up the outdoor grill for dinner, I’d suggest getting that done earlier rather than later. The wind could make grilling a bit trickier as the evening approaches.
As for those showers tonight: don’t worry too much. The National Weather Service is calling this a “slight chance,” and here’s why—even though moisture is moving in ahead of a weak cold front, a dry layer of air is moving in from the west that’ll fight against it. Most of us in the lower desert will see at most a trace of rain, though the higher terrain in Arizona could pick up a few hundredths to a tenth of an inch in isolated spots. No flood concerns here in the metro area.
