Breezy Monday with Evening Showers, Then Beautiful Mid-Week Weather

Hey neighbors! Here’s what you need to know for today: expect breezy conditions this afternoon with southwest winds gusting between 20-30 mph, and a slight chance of light showers moving through this evening. If you’re planning outdoor activities, the afternoon is your window before the wind really picks up.

Today’s Details

We’re looking at a partly sunny day with highs near 80°F—quite pleasant, actually. That weather system moving in from California will bring those gusty winds by mid-afternoon. If you’re thinking about firing up the outdoor grill for dinner, I’d suggest getting that done earlier rather than later. The wind could make grilling a bit trickier as the evening approaches.

As for those showers tonight: don’t worry too much. The National Weather Service is calling this a “slight chance,” and here’s why—even though moisture is moving in ahead of a weak cold front, a dry layer of air is moving in from the west that’ll fight against it. Most of us in the lower desert will see at most a trace of rain, though the higher terrain in Arizona could pick up a few hundredths to a tenth of an inch in isolated spots. No flood concerns here in the metro area.

Outdoor Planning This Week

Monday afternoon: If you’ve got yard work in mind, tackle that lawn mowing early—before the wind kicks up around 3-4 PM. You’ll thank yourself for not fighting those gusts.

Tuesday: This is your day! Sunny skies, calm winds (0-5 mph), and a high near 79°F. Perfect for hiking Camelback or South Mountain, or catching some Spring Training baseball. If you’ve got a patio furniture set you’ve been meaning to set up, Tuesday is ideal—no wind to worry about, and the weather will be absolutely gorgeous.

Tuesday night into Wednesday: Clear skies and lows around 58°F—great sleeping weather if you like to crack a window. Wednesday warms up to 85°F with continued sunshine.

Gear Tip

If you’re planning to spend extended time outdoors mid-week—maybe a picnic or backyard gathering—a pop-up canopy tent is a smart investment for shade as we head into spring. You’ll want that protection as temps climb toward summer.

Also, if you’ve been putting off cleaning those gutters before monsoon season, now’s a good time to think about gutter guards. May seems early, but it sneaks up fast, and you don’t want debris clogging things when the monsoon rains arrive in July.

Looking Ahead

After tonight’s slight shower chance clears out, we’re looking at a beautiful stretch of weather through mid-week. High pressure settles back in, bringing drier and slightly warmer conditions. This is Phoenix spring at its finest—enjoy it while it lasts!

Stay safe out there, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any weather questions. That’s what neighbors are for!
