Beautiful Tuesday Ahead—But Watch for Smoke and Dangerous Rip Currents

Hey neighbors! We’ve got a gorgeous day shaping up here in Miami—partly sunny skies, a high of 79°F, and light east winds around 15 mph. It’s the kind of day that screams for outdoor plans. But before you head out, there are a couple of important things to know.

Air Quality Alert: Newman Fire Smoke

The Newman Fire burning in Collier County is affecting our air quality today and into Wednesday. The National Weather Service is warning that smoke will drift toward the Gulf coast and surrounding areas, reducing visibility on roadways and potentially impacting anyone with respiratory sensitivity. If you’re part of a vulnerable population—kids, elderly folks, or anyone with asthma—consider limiting outdoor time until the fire is controlled. And if you’re driving, especially toward Naples or Gulf-side areas, take it slow. Reduced visibility can sneak up on you.

Rip Current Risk at Beaches

If you’re planning a beach day, be aware that dangerous rip currents will persist through at least Wednesday evening at all of our east coast beaches. This isn’t a day to ignore the lifeguard warnings. Swim near lifeguard stations, and if you get caught in a rip current, remember to swim parallel to shore, not against it.

Your Perfect Day Plan

Beyond those cautions, this is excellent weather for outdoor activities. Golfers should absolutely get out there—mostly sunny conditions, light winds, and temperatures in the upper 70s make for ideal greens. If you’ve been meaning to book some tee time, today’s the day. A golf rangefinder can help you dial in those distances perfectly on a day like this.

Your lawn’s been waiting for this weather too. With calm winds and no rain expected, this is prime time to get the mower out. A cordless lawn mower makes quick work of spring growth without the hassle of gas and oil.

And speaking of outdoor time—tonight’s the night to fire up the grill. We’re looking at partly cloudy skies, a low around 72°F, and those gentle east winds will keep things comfortable while you cook. Throw some steaks, burgers, or grilled chicken on there with corn on the cob. The weather’s perfect for it.

Looking Ahead

Wednesday stays mostly sunny with a high near 78°F—another beauty. Temperatures tick up slightly Thursday to around 80°F with continued mostly sunny skies. If you’re heading to Friday’s Marlins game against the Brewers at loanDepot park, you’ll be looking at fantastic baseball weather. Perfect tailgating conditions if you’re arriving early.

The deep ridge of high pressure keeping us dry and pleasant will stick around through at least Thursday. Enjoy it while it lasts—this is South Florida spring at its finest.

Stay safe out there, watch for that smoke, and respect those rip currents. Everything else is looking great!
