Los Angeles is waking up to patchy fog on Sunday, May 24, but once the May Gray burns off — expect clearing by around 11 AM PT — you’ll find a gorgeous mostly sunny afternoon with a high near 73°F. Get outside after the coast clears.
Today’s Setup
The National Weather Service says coastal fog will hang along the coast and into the coastal valleys through late morning, then mostly sunny skies take over by midday. A light southwest breeze of 0 to 10 mph keeps things comfortable, with gusts up to 20 mph possible by afternoon. Griffith Park and Runyon Canyon are best after 11 AM — skip the foggy early scramble. Zero percent chance of rain today.
Best Window To Be Outside
Noon through early evening is your sweet spot. Golfers, this forecast is made for you — the Callaway Big Bertha 23 Fairway Wood on sale for $150 is worth a look before you tee off. Hikers, beach-goers, and patio diners all win this afternoon.
Allergy Alert
As that southwest wind picks up and the fog retreats, pollen dispersal increases across the Basin. Sensitive folks should grab an allergy relief nasal spray before heading out. Running a HEPA air purifier at home overnight helps keep indoor air cleaner between outings.
Game Day and Event Weather
Los Angeles Angels vs. Texas Rangers at Angel Stadium (today, May 24): Clear skies and mild temperatures make this a near-perfect night for baseball. Temps will ease into the upper 60s by late innings — pack a light layer. Wear your Los Angeles Angels jersey and a Los Angeles Angels fitted cap for the full gameday look.
Tonight also brings the Kesha: The Freedom Tour to the Kia Forum in Inglewood. It’s an indoor show, so weather is a non-factor — but Century Boulevard traffic stacks up fast on event nights. Plan extra time and grab a Kesha t-shirt to mark the occasion. Still need seats? Find tickets on StubHub.
LAFC vs. Seattle Sounders FC at BMO Stadium (Memorial Day, May 25): Tomorrow’s forecast mirrors today — patchy fog before 11 AM PT, then mostly sunny with a high near 72°F and SW winds 5 to 10 mph. Ideal soccer weather down in Exposition Park. Get tickets on SeatGeek while they last.
Next Few Days
Enjoy this stretch while it lasts. Starting Tuesday, the National Weather Service is tracking a meaningful cool-down as a deepening trough pushes in from the West Coast. Highs will drop to the 60s and 70s for most of the LA Basin, with gusty winds possible — some gusts may approach advisory levels in interior areas and southwest Santa Barbara County. A cold low pressure system arrives by Wednesday and could be slow to exit. Expect a deepened marine layer and possible drizzle. There is a 20 percent chance of light showers over interior mountains from northern Ventura County to eastern LA County if the system tracks closer to the coast.
Tonight’s Dinner
A light pasta or stir-fry is perfect for a mild spring evening — easy to pull together and leaves time for an after-dinner walk while it’s still warm out. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
